Toxic Foods

Many of the foods we commonly eat are laced with chemicals that have profound physiological, hormonal, and neurological effects. They contain the wrong kind of fats, too much salt, and sweeteners. They bear little resemblance to the foods our bodies need to function well.  Adults and children will benefit from eliminating processed and toxic foods.

Two studies were published in 2009 that got everyone’s attention. The first revealed mercury contaminated high fructose corn syrup was found in several major brands picked from supermarket shelves. The second established the connection between mercury buildup in children and incidence of neurological and behavioral difficulties. Numerous studies – many of them European – have shown that additives, artificial flavors and colors, have an adverse affect on children’s learning and behavior.

My own experience in working with children over the past 30 years has shown that cleaning up the diet is the first step in reversing learning and behavioral problems. Since no child will adhere to a food plan that excludes foods others in the family are eating, all family members have benefited from change of diet as well.
