Foods for Your Color Body Type

Reds:

  • Foods to Enjoy: green, yellow, orange fruits and vegetables. Most red fruits and vegetables are okay too. Blue-red, blue, and black berries, cherries, plums, figs, grapes, pomegranates and melons are particularly good. Can be a vegetarian, enjoy beans and other legumes, whole grains (wheat may be a problem), unsalted nuts and seeds
  • Foods to avoid: diary products, red meat, hot spicy foods, peppers, limit or avoid caffeine & alcohol intake. Avoid hot spices, salt.
  • Food temperature: any temperature is good

Yellows:

  • Foods to Enjoy: any color fruit or vegetable. Balance choices between rainbow colors. Yellows need protein; fish, poultry, eggs, lean meat (other than lamb), whole grains, pasta, spicy foods, nuts and seeds in moderation (may be lightly salted or roasted), spicy foods,  Warm soups in any season are great.
  • Foods to Avoid: most beans, crunchy dried foods (crackers, chips, popcorn), dry crusted breads, croutons, caffeinated beverages. low tolerance for alcohol.
  • Food temperature: warm or hot is best. Avoid cold and iced foods

Greens:

  • Foods to Enjoy: green foods are particularly good with cruciferous vegetables, onions and garlic topping the list. Fish, lean meats, beans, whole grains (not bread or processed grains, pasta) are good. Raw nuts and seeds. Liberal use of spices to flavor food. Green tea supports weight loss and promotes mental alertness.
  • Foods to Avoid: anything sweet including tropical juices, carrot juice, citrus juices, fatty fried foods, sauces, breads, crackers and other snack foods, pasta and anything colored white.; sweetened beverages (lattes!) limit or avoid alcohol. Avoid salt.
  • Food temperature: cold or cool is good.
